About Us
About Rafiki Theatre
Rafiki Theatre, pioneered by a group of students from the Department of Music, Dance, & Drama, of Makerere University – Uganda, was a program of the German Civil Peace Service Zfd Ziviler-Friedensdienst run by the German International Agency Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Entwicklungshilfe-AGEH financed by Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung-BMZ, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and coordinated by Claus Schrowange. It was incorporated in Uganda as Non-profit on 29th October 2010.
- Service: Our organization is founded on youth values and leadership and fronting youth coalitions and young people in addressing fault-lines and acting for development. Our framework and workflows prioritise the use of arts and culture in global development. Since our formation, we crafted a special artistic genre that is unique to us but also defining and cantered to the individual and community in which he lives. But this is not simply an art – it is a journey that takes both the individual and his community on a road to self-discovery and reflection, and this is where empowerment and change starts.
